RITAM DUGGAL

BHSc (Phys), PGDip Health and Rehabilitation (specialised Hand & Upper Limb Therapy).

Currently MBCHBIV

I knew from a very young age that I was interested in health and wellbeing and this is what undoubtedly led me to pursue a career in Physiotherapy.  After completing a Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy) from Auckland, I returned home and began my career working in Private Practice in Waikato.  During the course of my career, I have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Rehabilitation which has led me to qualify as a Hand and Upper Limb specialist.  I have also been fortunate to have been involved in teaching roles that have included both Physiotherapy students and Trainee Interns.  I have also gained lecturing experience as part of a sports module at the University of Waikato - something I found extremely rewarding.  I am currently studying Year 4 Medicine at the University of Auckland.

I am excited to work at Remuera Physiotherapy because of their reputation to treat cause of injury not only symptoms.  I believe in thorough biomechanical assessments so I have all the information I need to plan a quality treatment and rehabilitation programme.  I have a number of treatment techniques and use dry needling acupuncture for soft tissue release if warranted and agreed to by my client.

As physiotherapists we are more than just people who can alleviate pain and symptoms.  Our skills can also allow us to help individuals understand their condition and take control of their situation so that they are able to make the lifestyle changes to avoid further pain and disability.  This is the essence of true rehabilitation and something I believe strongly in.  I look forward to meeting you and working together in the near future.
